Public Meeting: The Pharmaceutical Industry

The next meeting of Leeds Keep Our NHS Public will feature Professor Allan House of Leeds Institue of Health Sciences speaking on the topic of the pharmaceutical industry or 'Big Pharma'. The meeting is on Thursday 24th April at 7.30pm at The Commonplace on Wharf Street in Leeds city centre.

 

Speaker from the Blood Service and UNITE

The next meeting of Leeds Keep Our NHS Public will feature a speaker from the Blood Service. The Leeds Blood Service processing and testing centre is threatened with closure. The meeting is on Thursday 27th March at 7.30pm at The Commonplace on Wharf Street in Leeds city centre.

Support Karen Reissman

Karen is a Psychiatric Nurse with Manchester Mental Health Trust, the Chair of the UNISON Branch and a member of UNISON’s Health Service Group Executive. Karen has been sacked by her employer for:
  • Speaking out against NHS cuts and privatisation
  • Telling people she was being disciplined
  • Protesting her innocence
Karen has received fantastic support from her colleagues who are currently on indefinite strike. Come along to this meeting to hear Karen explain what has happened:

Solidarity with the Manchester Strikers

The UNISON health executive have called a “Solidarity Day” on Wednesday 5th December to support Karen and 150 of her colleagues who are on indefinite strike for her reinstatement


Demo in support of Karen Reissman

A demo was held on November 24th in Manchester in support of Karen Reissman, a mental health nurse who was sacked for speaking out against cuts in services and jobs. Read the full report here
